Cloud 44-A Features Switchable Response Curves for Voice, Music
FRANKFURT, GERMANY, March 12, 2014. Cloud Microphones resurrects the spirit of the classic RCA Type 44 ribbon mic with the Cloud 44-A active ribbon microphone, on display at this year's Musikmesse. Within the mic, the ribbon itself remains true to the original 44, handcrafted to the exact specifications first prescribed in the 1930s by RCA's Harry F. Olson. Everything else has been engineered anew, however, using state of the art materials, manufacturing processes and technology, transcending the capabilities of Olson's time. Featuring switchable response curves for voice or music powered by Cloud's award-winning Cloudlifter circuitry, the 44-A is an active ribbon mic with personality from the past plus stregnth and flexibility essential for modern recording.
The Cloud 44-A affords users greater control over proximity effect, says company founder Rodger Cloud. The full range "Music" setting is the default for most applications, however, singers and VO artists can use the "Voice" setting to instantly tame plosives and undesirable low end associated with being close to the microphone. Having the switch invites the natural sound of a ribbon mic to be used on a wide variety of new sources. The Cloud 44-A ships with its own shockmount, wooden case, and is available immediately.
